ABOUT OUR EVENT

You are Helping us raise funds for Foster Youth that term out from their Foster Care Coverage after high-school. This Whole Group of kids are basically forgotten about once they have completed high-school. Voices Solano works with those kids to get them to build resume's so they can get jobs or they assist them in applying for aid so they can go to college and get a degree. They also help them find new housing arrangements so they are not out on the streets.

In many cases, foster families turn their foster kids away the moment they turn 18 years old. After being forced out as an “adult”, these kids face the harsh reality of limited access to resources, and overall support from family, or friends. While some foster families are generous, caring and supportive, the majority do not fulfill even the basic needs of the foster kids that live with them. The purpose of Bowling for Children's Charity is to bridge the gap between aging out of foster care, and entering into communities as prepared and healthy citizens. Thousands of kids age out when they turn 18, and more than one in five become homeless and or turn to drugs and crime. That is why over 70% of our State's death row and over 50% of All County Prisoners were once in the foster system.

Let’s come together as a community, and share our good fortune with these youth who are transitioning from the foster care system who strive for and deserve a shot at full independence.

Our goal is to get them into College or Jobs so they do not end up on the streets or as criminal statistics. These are great kids who truly deserve a fighting chance, take a moment to introduce yourself to one of them at the event, then you will own what we mean.
